Duct Tape and Coffee

Mummification with full hood and blindfold. The perfect footrest as I write…

I am sitting here with a black-and-white duct tape covered body by my feet. From knees down it’s clad prettily in lacy stalkings. It’s collared, a lead reverently placed down the center of its body, head encased in a full hood with blindfold. Jazz plays, and the smells of Copal and burnt Mugwort fill the air. My coffee has been made perfectly. It’s peaceful here, and I’m bound to this helpless body, just as they are surely bound to me.

When a submissive of mine has a hard time quieting their mind or tries to remain in control where they have no business messing with the steering wheel, it’s time to incorporate meditation into our practice. Letting go is one of the hardest things we have the pleasure of learning in this life. It’s a practice, a path, and an opportunity for deep connection. While D/s partners often utilize bondage within a scene, D/s is a form of bondage as well.

Anxiety, depression, hyper-vigilance, trust issues, and a million other personality quirks and commands of the central nervous system are soothed by meditation. Meditation can be practiced in a great number of ways, even within the realm of kink. What even is our adult playground, if not a place to seek out what centers and aligns our spirit with partners?

Mummification is a treat.
A dream.
A vision quest.
A hole of despair with an ending in sight.
An internal wrestle towards conversation.
A place of helplessness.
A space of deep stillness where one can work on the puzzle of acceptance…

Mummification commands that you will let go, rest, and be. It contains within it an ultimatum of nothingness where all that’s possible may reveal itself within the confines of your mind. It’s not for the claustrophobic—unless one is trying to overcome their fears with a safe, responsible, and understanding guide. I would also say that it’s not for people who don’t reasonably trust their Dom/top partner. It takes thoughtful negotiation to strip someone so thoroughly of their autonomy.

We are expansive on the inside, and taking away someone’s bodily control can provide a profound place to explore the inner realm. Without extraneous expectations, and armed with an earned trust securely in place, we are capable of incredible things. Out of stillness: visions, creativity, answers, and surprising depth can be ours. Sitting in front of a computer every day is not what puts us through our our corporeal paces, and in a million ways in this contemporary paradigm we’re robbed of true stillness even as we sit.

Today this body beneath my feet sobbed. This body breathed. This body went on a journey through the mind. This body rested. This body, even for just a few sacred moments, let go. This body’s heart, in turn, opened even more widely.

Kink for Life

A photograph from one of the most painful and invigorating play sessions I’ve had to date. Many of the bruises showed up a day later. I was sad to end this one…

Today is my 40th birthday! I’ve been thinking a lot about the past few years and this upcoming 4th decade. I am circling endlessly around the thought that I love BDSM — not just the concept and play of it, but the growth which conscious BDSM exploration can engender, the healing and retraining of behaviors, the opportunity for physical and emotional reconnection with parts of ourselves that have been taken away because of society, trauma, shame, or any other number of reasons.

Being a professional Dominant, sexuality educator, and performance artist fulfills different pieces of me and allows me to be in touch with (and openly address) my politics up close and personally with the public and my clients. I see changes in those I’ve worked with. Not infrequently I receive feedback from clients about how they’ve grown, become more comfortable in their own skins, or found a deepening internal peace about who they are and what they want in life and their relationships. I adore this work… except the many days when trolls are out, time wasters are playing whack-a-mole with my schedule, and people without understanding or reasonable boundaries are puking their disease in my general direction… So far on most days though, this is the work I feel excited to hustle about. That’s no small thing for me — my many careers are all about the hustle.

I am working toward a goal. The final product in my mind is a mix of my art, performance, sexuality education, kink sensibilities, and deep enjoyment I get working one on one with clients, shepherding in new experiences. The final image I have of this project includes command of a commercial space, something I can’t yet afford. I’ve been talking about this idea for the past couple years to those closest to me, and it hasn’t yet faded into a different dream, the idea has only become clearer and more meaningful to me in this time. Right now it seems like all of my paths are leading to the actualization of this vision, which is exciting. In honor of my entry into the beginning of mid-life, a new chapter of adulting, and the next decade, I’ve decided to invite you, dear readers, into the world I’m building. If you wish to be a part of my journey, here are a couple ideas about how you might interact with me and my ever rooting work…

The following is in its rough draft state. I’d love thoughts and feedback. I’ve outlined a membership club for people who wish to work regularly with me, as well as a pay-it-forward program for anyone who wishes to help me to afford working with clients who can benefit from my skills but not afford the fees.

Pay it Forward Fund

Creature Sir’s Pay it Forward Fund (PiF): Being in our bodies as fully as we are able to be is every being’s birthright.

Sexual trauma, the patriarchal structure of our civilization, unequal opportunities within the communal system, and adverse effects of socialization disproportionately harm minority people and women. It is not my duty nor intention to work only with clients who have the financial security to afford BDSM lessons, sexuality education, coaching, sub training, kink sessions, or identity exploration classes. These opportunities are often affordable to people with social privilege in combination with a lack of (or less) personal trauma experiences. We live in a society which disproportionately and demographically favors some people over others, leaving many behind struggling to afford basic needs over personal exploration — an important need which society has largely deemed “luxury”. I do not believe that learning to be in touch with one’s body, emotions, mind, one’s sexuality, gender, or personal identity should be considered a luxury.

I began my own journey into sex work — sexuality education, camming, sugaring, performing sexuality on stage, and professional Dominance — as a means to pay my rent, feed myself, and support my artistic career as a female who is visibly queer, trans, and who grew up (and has continued to live) significantly under the poverty line. I also recognize that my ability to do these jobs while advocating for my own boundaries and navigating the system in a way which has felt relatively safe to me over the years is absolutely connected to my privileges as a college educated white person. My female socialization, queer community navigation, and poor person’s work ethic have taught me a lot about how to be an effective sexuality educator, identity coach, and BDSM practitioner. These same traits and experiences have also instilled in me the importance of paying my communities back by working with and being available to those who are underprivileged and in need. While I must build up a client base of people who have lives which allow them to pay for my services in full, I must also serve and share with those who are in need and unable to.

Not everyone who can benefit from BDSM sessions, sexuality education, or coaching can afford to pay for these services. In order to afford offering sessions to these clients (especially low income LGBT, PoC, and female clients), Creature Sir asks those who can afford to to donate to the PiF Fund. Creature Sir’s PiF Fund offers the financial flexibility Sir needs to offer free or discounted sessions to clients in financial need. Sir matches all PiF Fund donations with their time, so your dollars count twice. Consider donating into the PiF Fund as an opportunity to recognize the privileges you enjoy and actively do something positive with them. There are many ways to think about what or how to contribute to the PiF Fund including:

  • Pay for an hour of a BDSM session: $300/hr
  • Pay for an hour or more of private BDSM skill building instruction: $150/hr
  • Pay whatever dollar amount you’re able to into the PiF Fund which will free up a partial or full scholarship to someone in need whenever funds are available
  • All donations are matched with Creature Sir’s time (ex: if you donate $300, Creature Sir will offer two hours of session time to client(s) in need)

PiF Funds are anonymous. Neither donors nor benefactors of PiF Funds will be revealed to one another or any third parties by Creature Sir ever. If you would like to donate to the PiF Fund you may let Sir know your intentions to do so and they will discuss your options for a secure and anonymous contribution. If you are interested in applying for a PiF Fund scholarship you may contact Creature Sir to discuss your circumstances and see what options are available at that time.

Training to be On Top

By Edward Lund from Atlanta, in Edgewood, 30307, United States ([1]) [CC BY 2.0], via Wikimedia Commons

This weekend I attended a Mistress/Master… “Maestrex” (I made it up, and I’m keeping it!) training. There was a small group of people gathered for two and a half days, ready to learn some tricks of the D/s trade and to build esteem for the Dominant role and ourselves. It was a fabulous weekend. A ton of material was offered, practice time clocked, really well voiced perspective on how to take charge in a kinky relationship or with clients, and tools shared which made building one’s own D/s relationship not only accessible but fun — all the while fed heartily by healthy and indulgent mealtime fare served by house submissives who were generous with their own experiences, knowledge, and physical offerings throughout.

While many courses like this one are geared toward lifestyle Dominants or professionals, this group had a pretty even mix of both. There were people in attendance who were already experienced, and people who were learning about parts of their Dominance for the first time. As always this dungeon there was a wonderful mix of ages, genders, orientations, and other perspectives present, and the creativity in a room full of D-types soaking in the possibilities is fantastic! I love that many BDSM community spaces offer intergenerational connection to this fantastic way of connecting we call “kink”.

Miss Couple’s way of explaining and breaking down the components of BDSM and D/s relationships is fantastic. She’s welcoming of different perspectives in her teaching, and does a fantastic job of creating context for her lessons. She cares about mastery of skills, research, education, and sharing knowledge. I have yet to see most pillars of kink community attach their perspective to the tyranny of “one twoo way-ism”. How refreshing.

Over the weekend I learned about finding my own voice and style as a Dominant, historical and social context of BDSM, how to build a scene, all about varied kinks and the considerations/dangers/safety requirements of engaging in more intense play. We practiced communication skills, and I even got my whip arm in shape on an actual bottom’s bottom (still beaming at that last one). I left feeling exhausted by all we’d learned, excited to apply new ideas into my own practice, healthy, happy, and with a lot to process. If I have any real critique of this weekend it’s that in Miss Couple’s efforts to share as much knowledge as she can — and her knowledge is vast and deep — there was enough information disseminated to fill about two weekend’s worth of time.

I highly recommend the training to anyone who is interested in upping their Dominance game, and even to those who aren’t sure where they fall on the spectrum. If you find yourself desiring Maestrix knowhow, Miss Couple’s Dominance Training Seminars are a wonderful place to gather instruction, perspective, and practice in a nonjudgmental environment while building community. These workshops are hosted a handful of times a year, and if this particular type of training isn’t your cup of tea, they offer a number of other classes as well. Go get ’em!
