LOCATION: Cambridge, MA

Meeting:  1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 3/4*
(*please note there is no class on 2/25)

Your loving blooger in drag

Drag King 101 is your opportunity to explore your inner Drag King AND create a piece for performance! We will explore the ins and outs of what makes a successful Drag King through gender illusion, costuming, physicality, character creation, acting technique, movement, and story development. This course culminates with each student creating their own performance piece.

So, what’s a Drag King again?: Well, perhaps you’ve heard of a Drag Queen? Simply put, a Drag King is the counterpart – a performance critiquing the masculine character in society. The drag culture at large generally injects politics, pop-culture commentary, sexuality, orientation, identity and gender exploration into the center of much of its material… While we each develop our own POV on the art form, we’ll also touch on: Bio Queens and Drag Queens, High Femme Performance, Transgender Identity vs. Gender Performance, Queer and Straight: identity/behavior/orientation, and so much more…

This workshop is open to people of all gender identities who are interested in performing as a King.

So, you’ve DONE the Drag King 101 thing and want more! In this 6-week workshop we’ll explore the ins and outs of new characters. Yes, that was plural. Still flipping through gender bent discoveries, costuming, physicality, character creation, acting technique, movement, and story development – you know the rundown with me – so we’ll be doing all this faster and with the intent to create 2 more contrasting solid acts to add to your repertoire. Come play and continue to develop your POV for stage…

LOCATION: Cambridge, MA

1239890_10201684660453395_1658059911_nHave you ever felt disconnected from your own artistic process? Do you have artistic goals and feel stagnant or stuck in your pursuit of them? Finding Your Artistic Process: A Course in Creativity is a 6 week workshop geared toward people who need (and wish) to stay connected to the artistic side of themselves.

We will explore tools and various paths into the creative mind and practice how to find, understand, and sustain a relationship with the artistic impulse over time. This class aims to stimulate the artist intellectually, emotionally, and personally.

Like any relationship, your creative work needs time and attention and to try new things to remain vibrantly connected. We will share our own setbacks and successes within the group, and spend time developing a POV that helps us move towards the artistic goals we have as individuals. Be prepared to work, listen, think, share, and try something new.

Professionals and amateurs are welcome alike, and creative types from all mediums. This course is about connecting to the creative spirit which can mean many things to many people – there are times we all need a boost in our connection to the muse…

QUALITY OF TOUCH: CONVERSATIONS IN SENSATION
REGISTER HERE

REGISTRATION CLOSED: Check back soon for next class registration period
LOCATION:  Watertown Center for Healing Arts (Skylight Studio ~ 22 Mt Auburn St, Watertown, MA)

THIS WORKSHOP CENTERS ON THE QUESTION “WHAT IS TOUCH?”: How do you stay centered on physical sensation when giving and receiving touch? How does that attention inform your communication or inspiration with various partners?

Approaching any type of physical partnership requires clear communication. Along with verbal consent, sending and receiving physical signals is one of the ways we tell our partners what we like and do not like, what feels safe, and what does not, and through connecting in this way we can open channels of inspiration between one another.

This workshop employs discussion, brainstorming, and hands on exercises. We will practice consensual communication during this class, and outlining our personal boundaries clearly with one another during explorations.

For our most intimate explorations you will be paired with your registration partner (you do not have to be in a ‘relationship’ with this person, just bring someone you feel comfortable exploring bodies with – participants remain clothed). We will be switching partners and working with many people in the class during some of the more basic exercises. Wear clothing that is loose and comfortable to move around in.

~ Max Registration: 6 couples (12 participants)
~ Partner Registration Required* / $80 Per Couple +$5 service fee (Register once for two people)
~ REGISTER HERE

* Partner registration does not require that you are in a relationship with the person you register with, only that you are comfortable exploring one another’s bodies and examining sensation together.  Clothing will remain on during this workshop.

** Each Person please bring a yoga mat, blanket or towel for floor work, and wear loose clothing that is comfortable to move in

MANIFESTING FEMININE: A WORKSHOP FOR THE MALE IDENTIFIED
REGISTER HERE

REGISTRATION CLOSED: Check back soon for next class registration period
LOCATION: Cambridge, MA

Gender is an Illusion

First off, we’re just finishing out the first round of these classes, and they’re AMAZING! So far my one of my favorite…

This 6 week workshop is for men (or masculine identifying people) who are interested in finding/expressing/playing with the feminine within themselves. Whether you’re interested in this for performance, personal, or philosophical reasons, this workshop welcomes any male-identified person who wishes to enact the feminine character.

This class will work towards embodying and creating feminine alter egos by employing character acting techniques, working on finding neutral within our own bodies, and finding the “other” physicalities that more closely match an idea of who you’d like to explore being.

Whether you are interested in creating a specific female alter ego, articulating the feminine side of your self, or play a part for fun, for art, for performance, or for personal reasons, this class will help you get closer to the person you wish to be.

We will touch on gender illusion techniques, look at clothing and appearance, do a fair bit of research, and talk about the wide range of possibilities within identity, gender performance, behavior, have outings, and so much more…
